The cerasonar 4080 ultimate is a high-performance invisible full-range loudspeaker designed for simple integration into modern audio and multiroom systems. At the core of the system is cerasonar’s Hybrid-Pneumatic Technology, combining a high-resolution full-range exciter system with a powerful 8" pneumatic bass driver. This architecture delivers a wide, immersive soundstage with clear midrange reproduction and controlled low-frequency performance from a fully concealed loudspeaker.

A defining feature of the 4080 ultimate is its mechanically isolated dual-chamber construction. The bass section and exciter section are separated by a rigid 25 mm MDF barrier, ensuring that low-frequency air pressure and mechanical energy from the woofer do not interfere with the exciter system. This isolation minimizes intermodulation distortion and preserves clarity, detail, and tonal balance even at higher listening levels.

The custom-developed 25 mm exciter driver ensures excellent mid- and high-frequency resolution with outstanding off-axis performance, providing consistent coverage throughout the listening area. This makes the 4080 ultimate particularly well suited for residential spaces, hospitality environments, and distributed audio installations.

Thanks to its optimized electrical design and integrated crossover protection circuit, the 4080 ultimate can be connected directly to standard amplifiers such as Sonos Amp, WiiM Amp, and other conventional hi-fi or multiroom amplifiers without requiring an external protection unit. This enables a simple, cost-efficient, and highly flexible installation concept for modern multiroom audio systems.

The integrated 8" pneumatic bass system delivers deep, controlled low-frequency reproduction while working seamlessly with the exciter section to ensure a balanced and natural sound character across the entire frequency range.

The 4080 ultimate is ideally suited for timber and lightweight construction systems and environments where simple integration and high-quality sound are equally important. How we achieve excellent high-frequency reproduction

Invisible loudspeakers were often seen as a compromise. They had sufficient quality for background sound, but lacked in dynamics and resolution compared to conventional loudspeakers.

The panel material is the decisive component for the quality of the high-frequency reproduction. This can be compared to the aerodynamics of a car. Even a powerful engine cannot compensate for poor aerodynamics, so it is the streamlined design that is decisive for achieving high speeds. In our case, we have chosen a suitable panel material to provide for an excellent basis for the reproduction of high tones.

By using a very light but nevertheless hard material it is possible to reproduce even the highest frequencies pure and cleanly. The two mid-/high-range exciters thus do not require equalisation of the high-frequency range and therefore achieve a treble quality that is no way inferior to a conventional loudspeaker.

Suitable for a wide range of installation environments

Important for us was that the driver delivers a fast impulse behaviour to keep up with the exciter drivers. Fundamental structural modifications were necessary, that are not common for standard low-frequency drivers.

We achieved this by using a stiff and light carbon fibre cone. At high excursions, the cone keeps stable and doesn't flex - important for reproducing sound without distortions. Since the speaker surround represents the next "bootle neck", it was designed drive-optimised and can thus properly carry away the load.

To guarantee a linear frequency response, we added a copper ring on the pole piece for impedance correction. Thanks to the strong magnet system, the new 4080 ultimate can also be used well in smaller volumes such as back boxes or masonry mounting frames. In addition, the rigid basket is extensively ventilated to ensure heat dissipation even under heavy load.

Efficient crossover design
protecting both woofer and exciter drivers

We have linearised the midrange with counterweights and developed a filter that ensures a clean crossover between the woofer and the midrange/tweeter.

In addition, the two paths each have an independent PTC to protect the speaker in case of overload. More over, the exciter drivers are equipped with two aluminium heat sinks to ensure efficient heat dissipation even under heavy load.

By using proprietary woofer and exciter drivers designed in-house, we have managed to reduce the speaker crossover to a minimum of components. This has allowed us to use components, such as high quality foil capacitors in the signal path. No resistors that consume unnecessary energy are used as a result of the homogeneous tuning of the woofer and the exciters.

For connecting of the speaker wire we use the Wago 221-613 terminals, cable diameters up to 6 mm² can be connected quick and reliable.

The improved cerasonar installation frame can now be used for even more applications. Thanks to the stable construction made of waterproof plywood and the use of Basotect® insulating material, it is also ideal as a backbox to effectively reduce rear noise. 
The innovative optional vibration dampers now also make it possible to reduce structure-borne noise.

The housing comes pre-drilled and can therefore be used for various installation environments, such as:

  • In-situ concrete installation
  • Masonry installation
  • Easy ceiling installation
  • Vibration damper installation (suspended drywall ceiling)

The installation frame is supplied as standard with high-quality cable glands and integrated strain relief from OBO, insulation material from Basotect® as well as an OSB blank panel and alignment battens.

Installation is easy: the factory pre-drilled holes are enlarged with a suitable drill for the desired application, then the cable gland, insulation material and any accessories are fitted.

Our product liability insurance (only valid in Germany) in cooperation with AachenMünchener provides protection against property damage and bears the full costs for a possible restoration. A prerequisite is the registration with us in our company. Each of our cerasonar loudspeakers comes with comprehensive, easy-to-understand installation instructions in picture and video format, which even makes subsequent installation in existing walls extremely easy.
