The cerasonar 4080 ultimate has been developed for projects where exceptional full-range performance, straightforward installation and completely invisible integration are equally important. Combining an advanced hybrid-pneumatic woofer with dedicated mid/high-frequency exciters, it delivers genuine full-range sound, eliminating the need for a separate invisible subwoofer in many residential applications.

Unlike conventional invisible loudspeakers, the 4080 ultimate has been engineered as a complete full-range system. Its integrated low-frequency driver delivers deep, controlled bass, while the dedicated exciter technology provides outstanding clarity, wide sound dispersion and highly detailed high-frequency reproduction. The result is a remarkably natural, dynamic and immersive listening experience that rivals many conventional loudspeaker systems while remaining completely invisible behind the finished surface.

The 4080 ultimate is ideally suited for premium stereo systems, multi-room installations, media rooms and living spaces where outstanding musical performance is desired with minimal system complexity. For many residential projects, it represents the simplest path to true high-fidelity invisible audio.

Unlike other cerasonar loudspeakers, the 4080 ultimate can be operated directly with conventional AV receivers or streaming amplifiers without requiring an external protection unit. The integrated crossover incorporates its own protection circuitry, making installation particularly straightforward.

For those seeking the highest possible performance, cerasonar recommends pairing the 4080 ultimate with the cs-500dsp4 or cs-2000dsp4 DSP amplifier together with the dedicated factory DSP preset. While the loudspeaker already delivers exceptional sound quality without additional equalisation, the DSP preset extracts the final level of performance by refining tonal balance, extending low-frequency reproduction and further optimising the overall listening experience.

For installations involving thicker plaster layers, decorative surface finishes or wood veneer with recessed pocket milling, cerasonar recommends selecting a model from the reference pro series. The additional dynamic headroom of the reference pro loudspeakers helps compensate for the acoustic losses introduced by these more demanding surface constructions.

Alternatively, compatible third-party DSP amplifiers, including LEA Professional and Powersoft, may be used with the appropriate cerasonar factory DSP preset.

How we achieve excellent high-frequency reproduction

Invisible loudspeakers were often seen as a compromise. They had sufficient quality for background sound, but lacked in dynamics and resolution compared to conventional loudspeakers.

The panel material is the decisive component for the quality of the high-frequency reproduction. This can be compared to the aerodynamics of a car. Even a powerful engine cannot compensate for poor aerodynamics, so it is the streamlined design that is decisive for achieving high speeds. In our case, we have chosen a suitable panel material to provide for an excellent basis for the reproduction of high tones.

By using a very light but nevertheless hard material it is possible to reproduce even the highest frequencies pure and cleanly. The two mid-/high-range exciters thus do not require equalisation of the high-frequency range and therefore achieve a treble quality that is no way inferior to a conventional loudspeaker.

Suitable for a wide range of installation environments

Important for us was that the driver delivers a fast impulse behaviour to keep up with the exciter drivers. Fundamental structural modifications were necessary, that are not common for standard low-frequency drivers.

We achieved this by using a stiff and light carbon fibre cone. At high excursions, the cone keeps stable and doesn't flex - important for reproducing sound without distortions. Since the speaker surround represents the next "bootle neck", it was designed drive-optimised and can thus properly carry away the load.

To guarantee a linear frequency response, we added a copper ring on the pole piece for impedance correction. Thanks to the strong magnet system, the new 4080 ultimate can also be used well in smaller volumes such as back boxes or masonry mounting frames. In addition, the rigid basket is extensively ventilated to ensure heat dissipation even under heavy load.

Efficient crossover design
protecting both woofer and exciter drivers

We have linearised the midrange with counterweights and developed a filter that ensures a clean crossover between the woofer and the midrange/tweeter.

In addition, the two paths each have an independent PTC to protect the speaker in case of overload. More over, the exciter drivers are equipped with two aluminium heat sinks to ensure efficient heat dissipation even under heavy load.

By using proprietary woofer and exciter drivers designed in-house, we have managed to reduce the speaker crossover to a minimum of components. This has allowed us to use components, such as high quality foil capacitors in the signal path. No resistors that consume unnecessary energy are used as a result of the homogeneous tuning of the woofer and the exciters.

For connecting of the speaker wire we use the Wago 221-613 terminals, cable diameters up to 6 mm² can be connected quick and reliable.

The improved cerasonar installation frame can now be used for even more applications. Thanks to the stable construction made of waterproof plywood and the use of Basotect® insulating material, it is also ideal as a backbox to effectively reduce rear noise. 
The innovative optional vibration dampers now also make it possible to reduce structure-borne noise.

The housing comes pre-drilled and can therefore be used for various installation environments, such as:

The installation frame is supplied as standard with high-quality cable glands and integrated strain relief from OBO, insulation material from Basotect® as well as an OSB blank panel and alignment battens.

Installation is easy: the factory pre-drilled holes are enlarged with a suitable drill for the desired application, then the cable gland, insulation material and any accessories are fitted.
