cerasonar protection unit – Loudspeaker Protection for the fit Series

The cerasonar protection unit 25w / 50w has been developed to provide reliable loudspeaker protection for the cerasonar fit series when operated with conventional amplifiers or streaming amplifiers that do not support cerasonar factory DSP presets.

It provides effective overload protection and ensures safe, reliable long-term operation of the connected loudspeakers. The cerasonar protection unit is intended for installations where a dedicated DSP amplifier with the appropriate cerasonar factory DSP preset is not available.

Whenever a compatible DSP amplifier is operated with the appropriate cerasonar factory DSP preset, no additional protection unit is required, as loudspeaker protection is already integrated into the DSP preset. In addition, every cerasonar factory DSP preset has been specifically developed for its corresponding loudspeaker, optimising tonal balance, extending low-frequency performance where applicable and activating proprietary technologies such as Dynamic Bass Enhancement on supported models. The result is an even fuller, more natural and immersive listening experience while maintaining reliable loudspeaker protection.

The cerasonar protection unit incorporates a 6 dB/octave high-pass filter that protects the connected loudspeaker from excessive low-frequency energy. It is ideally suited for full-range operation without a dedicated subwoofer.

For systems incorporating a subwoofer, cerasonar recommends using the cerasonar protection unit pro instead. Its 18 dB/octave high-pass filter provides a significantly steeper crossover slope, allowing cleaner bass management, improved system integration and increased power handling of the connected loudspeaker.

When installed according to cerasonar recommendations, the cerasonar protection unit also fulfils the requirements for the 5-year cerasonar functional warranty.

Two versions are available:

protection unit 25w

Recommended for:

• cerasonar 1520 fit
• cerasonar 2525 fit in single-stereo operation (two protection units required per loudspeaker)

protection unit 50w

Recommended for:

• cerasonar 2525 fit in standard operation

The cerasonar protection unit is designed for conventional amplifiers and streaming amplifiers with moderate output power. It is not recommended for use with high-power AV receivers, as their high transient output can exceed the protection capability of the standard protection circuit.

For high-power AV receivers, systems incorporating a dedicated subwoofer, or amplifier platforms without cerasonar factory DSP presets, cerasonar recommends using the cerasonar protection unit pro instead.
