Protection Unit Pro – Advanced Loudspeaker Protection for Conventional Amplifiers

The cerasonar protection unit pro has been developed to provide advanced loudspeaker protection for cerasonar invisible loudspeakers when operated with conventional amplifiers, high-power streaming amplifiers or AV receivers that do not support cerasonar factory DSP presets.

Its enhanced protection circuit is designed to respond to the high transient power peaks generated by modern AV receivers and high-performance amplifiers. This provides improved protection against overload and supports the safe and reliable long-term operation of the connected loudspeaker.

The protection unit pro also incorporates a fixed 18 dB/octave high-pass filter. By reducing excessive low-frequency energy reaching the loudspeaker, it increases power handling and improves long-term reliability. When using the protection unit pro, cerasonar recommends combining the loudspeakers with a dedicated invisible subwoofer for optimum system integration and low-frequency performance.

Whenever a compatible DSP amplifier is operated with the appropriate cerasonar factory DSP preset, no additional protection unit is required. Loudspeaker protection is already integrated into the preset, which also optimises tonal balance, low-frequency performance and supported technologies such as Dynamic Bass Enhancement.

The protection unit pro is therefore intended for installations where a cerasonar factory DSP preset cannot be used. While it provides dependable protection with conventional amplifier platforms, the highest possible sound quality and overall system performance are achieved with a compatible DSP amplifier and the dedicated factory preset.

When installed according to cerasonar recommendations, the protection unit pro also fulfils the protection requirements for the 5-year cerasonar functional warranty.

Recommended for:

• cerasonar 1520 fit when operated with high-power conventional amplifiers or AV receivers

• cerasonar 4062 reference in single-stereo operation – two protection units are required per loudspeaker

Protection Unit Pro 50/100W

Recommended for:

• cerasonar 4062 reference

• cerasonar 4062 reference pro

• cerasonar 12030 reference pro

• cerasonar 6280 reference pro

Both versions are supplied with a Phoenix connector adapter for straightforward integration into new and existing installations.

Important system note: The protection unit pro must not be used with the cerasonar 1520 fit – 100V, cerasonar 4062 architect or cerasonar 4080 ultimate. These models use different, model-specific protection and amplification concepts. Always select the protection unit according to the exact loudspeaker model and intended amplifier configuration.
